Hawaii's Helicopter Flights:
Frequently Asked Questions

1. How far in advance should I make reservations?

It is generally advisable to make your helicopter touring reservations as soon as you’re certain that you want to take a flight.  During the busy seasons flights can book up days in advance so book early to be assured you can get the flight time you want.

2. Can I book a helicopter trip online?

Yes. Visit our helicopter tour companies page, review your options, and then compare specific tours and prices. Once you've found the trip that seems right for you, you can book your helicopter tour at a reduced rate through Barefoot Hawaii by simply clicking the ORDER button. Or, you can speak with someone about your specific needs who will help you find just the right tour for you by calling toll free 1-888-222-3601.

3  How many people does a helicopter hold?  Will it be possible for me to sit in the front seat?

Depending upon the type of helicopter you will be touring in there will generally be either 4 or 6 seats available for passengers.  Two passenger seats are in the front and the balance will be found in the back.  On helicopters, all seating is determined by weight, which is why your booking agent will always ask the weights of all passengers.  The weights are fed into a computer that will determine where each person will sit.  You can almost always be assured that you will be sitting next to the person you are with but it is problematic as to whether you will be seated in the front or the back.

4.  What is the best time of day to tour Hawaii in a helicopter?

Though any time could be fantastic, generally speaking, the best visibility in Hawaii is in the morning hours.  Unfortunately, these are the times that fill up first so its best to book these times early.

5.  When during my stay should I book a helicopter flight?

Though anytime is of course a good time it is usually best to do your helicopter tour when you just arrive on an island.  This way you’ll have a good idea of the “run of the land” and you’ll be able to visit those areas that you found interesting from the air.

6. Should we bring a camera to take pictures?

You should definitely bring a camera with you.  Just don’t get too carried away with taking photos and in the process missing the essence of your experience.  Keep in mind that most helicopter companies provide you with videos of your flight anyway so you will have the experience to share with others for years to come.
